New Book!

Hello, friends!
I wanted to let you know that I have a new book coming out in April! I am really excited for you all to see it. This is my fifth book of poems and it is a compilation of poems that I have written over the past 5-10 years.

If you are local, there will be a book release reception on Thursday, April 4 at Neighborhood Reads Bookstore, 401 Lafayette Street, Washington, Mo.

If you are unable to come, PLEASE order your copy from Neighborhood Reads Bookstore! (we ship!) This store not only offers an amazingly curated collection of books and gifts, but offers so, so much more to our community. In cooperation with the Community Literacy Foundation, they have provided monthly books to area elementary schools, sponsored Family Reading Night, and so much more. The bookstore offers a Saturday story time, a summer reading program, author and other events, a variety of book clubs, school book fairs, adult book fairs and is just a true asset to our community. You can order the book here: Field Notes

Proceeds from the sale of this book will go to Peace Lutheran Church’s Crisis Fund and Overnight Warming Center. This fund has provided so much to those in crisis in our community. In 2022, they distributed over $16,000 for assistance with housing needs, children’s prescription needs, electric bills, flat tires, the whole gamut, as well as making referrals to other agencies for long term assistance. The Overnight Warming Center grew out if that program and was just initiated this winter. On nights when temperatures are below freezing, the church opens its doors to those who otherwise would be sleeping outside. It is completely manned (and womanned) by church and community volunteers. Cots and blankets have been donated and often, a pot of soup is available. These programs are well worthy of our donations.

Thank you!
Maria
