Morning Minds
In the morning, I wake up
Mourning doves coo me awake
With a list of tasks
A new day.
Running through my head.
I think I will sit
I had better get them written down
For a while
Before they disappear.
On the porch with my coffee
There are phone calls
And watch the green.
I need to make
It embraces me these mornings.
Most of them
Who am I today?
To people I don’t necessarily
Where will the green
Want to talk to.
Lead me?
But I should.
Ahh,
I really should.
I wonder.
