Savoring

Savoring

On a very good day,
the grandkids are here,
playing together.
I am sitting
in my mom’s rocker,
witnessing the magic
of their communal
imagination.

I have provided the space-
our daughters’ old bedroom,
now playroom,
and the raw materials-
dress ups and dolls,
books and games,
legos and blocks,
markers, glue, and scissors,
yarn and fabric scraps.

Now,
they form ideas together,
create scenarios,
build, read,
invent their own games.

As I sit and watch,
I sense my mom,
their Gram,
now ten years gone,
next to me.

Oh, how she would
treasure this moment
like so many she loved,
watching her children
and their children,
and now their children
play.

We sit here together,
she and I, companions
in awe and contentment,
savoring
these growing up too fast
children,
miracles of being
and becoming.

  1. A reminder that these grandchildren moments are precious from generations to generations.
    Thanks Marie
