Today I Want
Today I want
to be a tree,
rooted deeply
in the intricate soil,
with all of its
invisible connections,
its infinite mystery.
Today I want
to be a reaching leaf,
surfaced with
sunlight and dew,
absorbing all
this slow,
fresh morning
has to offer.
Today I want
to support life
as it has supported me,
feeding a thousand creatures,
providing a shady haven.
Today I want
to live in the abundance
of a summer day,
nourished
and nourishing.
