What My Words Cannot Contain
I want my life to be a prayer
and by that, I mean
a seeking,
a listening,
a blossoming toward.
Toward what?
I don’t want to say “God”
because it is a word
too fraught,
too weighed down
with human connotation.
I use words like
“Love” and “Light”,
“Creator” and “Divine”,
knowing these only point
to that which is beyond words.
Yet, when I let go of language
and enter the silence,
when I move toward
the core
of the core
of the core,
my spirit recognizes
what my words
cannot contain.
