Missed Connections

Missed Connections

Real life is hard.
We are busy,
distracted,
preoccupied.
My words are insufficient,
awkward.
I say the wrong things
or I don’t know what to say
at all.
We just keep
missing connections.

But in this predawn darkness
before the day begins,
my quiet mind
turns toward you far away.
I send my wordless love
hoping
that it can find its own way
to your sleeping,
unguarded heart.
